Book a sunset dhow, Swahili food from the women's kitchens, a stay or a guide, and find your way through the lanes. It all starts on a map painted by a Lamu artist.

What you can do
Karibu Lamu is built here, for how the island actually works: tides that flood the shore paths, lanes two metres wide, and M-Pesa.
Join an open sunset sail and split the cost, or book a private dhow, fishing trip or transfer.
Order biryani, seafood and sweets straight from the women's groups who cook them.
See when the shore path floods and when to take a boat. The day planner does it for you.
Scan a carved street plaque and the app walks you, step by step, to where you are going.
A first-class filter on every sail, meal and stay, with family and women's sessions.
Prices in shillings, paid to the person who earns them. No hidden fees, no fake urgency.
The painted map
The whole archipelago is being painted by hand on true coordinates, and the painting becomes the app's map volume by volume. Each volume is also a 1,000-piece puzzle; the six together make a two-metre panorama of Lamu.
